Babe Ruth's Legacy
After Babe's final season in the MLB, he had become the most iconic player in baseball history. In the year 1936, the year after he retired, Babe held 56 major league records. The most famous of all the records, 714 home runs. Also in the year 1936 the Baseball Hall of Fame was introduced to the league. Babe Ruth was one of the first five to ever be inducted into the Hall of Fame. His legacy that he left behind for future players is still in the eyes of players today. Ten years later Babe was diagnosed with a malignant tumor on his neck. With not much technology to treat cancers during the 1940's, Babe died two years later on August 16, 1948. Since his last game played over 75 years ago, George Herman "Babe" Ruth Jr. is still considered the greatest baseball player in American history.
